MY GR WEEK | NOVEMBER 2–8, 2026
The Halloween decorations can come down. Your social calendar can stay up.
November starts strong with special restaurant menus, hands-on family fun, Friday night hockey, and a few excellent excuses to get off the couch.
Also, if your dinner plans have recently consisted of stealing miniature candy bars from the kitchen, we have a timely intervention.
Here’s your week in GR!

YOUR “WE SHOULD TRY THAT PLACE” WEEK HAS ARRIVED 🍽️
Restaurant Week GR | November 6–14 | Participating restaurants throughout Kent County
You know that restaurant you keep mentioning but never actually visit?
This is your opening.
Restaurant Week GR begins Friday, with more than 60 participating restaurants and special menus offering at least two courses at $25, $35, and/or $45. Beverages, tax, and gratuity are additional.
It’s a chance to revisit a favorite, try a different cuisine, or finally turn that group text about getting dinner into an actual reservation.
Sign up for the digital pass to browse menus and check in during your visits. Three restaurant check-ins earn a choice of rewards, and each check-in also helps support scholarships for local culinary students.
Our suggestion: pick one familiar place and one you’ve never tried. Leave room for dessert and a little discovery.

EVERYBODY HAS A STORY. COME MAKE YOURS. 🎨
Discovery Day: My Story
Saturday, November 7 | 10 AM–3 PM | Grand Rapids Art Museum
A community story quilt. A LEGO creation. A tiny digital version of yourself.
There are plenty of ways to tell a story, and GRAM is inviting the community to explore a few of them this Saturday.
Discovery Day celebrates personal stories and identity with hands-on activities throughout the museum, inspired by the exhibitions Gary Tyler: Rebirth and Ray Materson: Metamorphosis.
Visitors can contribute to a community story quilt, make fabric art, follow a scavenger hunt with prizes, and take on a LEGO building challenge led by Bricks & Minifigs.
Stemming Ideas will also help participants create pixel-art avatars and discover how digital images connect to binary code.
It’s an opportunity for kids and grown-ups to make something, share a little of themselves, and spend an afternoon creating together.
And somebody else is providing the supplies.
Activities are included with museum admission and free for members. Advance registration can speed up check-in.

GIVE NOVEMBER A GOOD START
You don’t need to fill every night.
Try one restaurant. Take the kids somewhere they can make something. Explore a few neighborhood shops. Invite the friend you keep meaning to see.
The calendar has changed. There are still plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy your city.
See you around town!
